The economic dynamics of Tulum, with the growing opening of businesses in the tourism sector, has represented new sources of employment, which has generated migratory movements of people who, in the absence of opportunities in their place of origin, seek alternatives in the development poles tourist of Quintana Roo.   This has resulted in very accelerated demographic growth and also in a diverse social composition, which represents an enormous cultural wealth but also a problem of social integration.

Red Tulum Sostenible

As an attempt to contribute to social integration, the cooperative has created the space for the Red Tulum Sostenible, a network of people where people and organizations participate and coordinate to address socio-environmental problems from the perspective of sustainability. The Network has generated a work agenda, has promoted specific processes and has interacted with the municipal public administration to establish ties of understanding and coordinated actions.

Science and Technology Club

In another integration strategy, we have worked with a small organization at the neighborhood level, known as Los Amigos de la Esquina, where we work with children and young people to involve them in issues of the environment, science and sustainable tourism.

The Tulum Science and Technology Club provides teachers from the schools of basic and upper secondary education in the municipality of Tulum with tools that allow complementing learning in the classroom in an experiential and didactic way, through experimental activities in the classroom and outdoors. , excursions to educational spaces, museums, archaeological zones of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), Protected Natural Areas (ANPs) and sites of bio-cultural interest.
